Total WP sites in a shared hosting

I want to know how many Wordpress sites, each 5-10 posts, I can run in my shared hosting plan or how many maximum sites you are running in same shared hosting?

Wordpress takes lots of space and I guess, it's not required for 5-10 pages sites. Since shared hosting have inode limit of 25, so wondering what would be the max number of website I can run without crossing the limit?

Also, which tool you will recommend to create static sites? I think using HTML sites, I can have 100's of 5-10 pages sites in a shared hosting..

Thanks for your response..

Unless your WP sites include video, you shouldn't have space issues. I'd think you should be able to run many WP sites on even a small shared hosting plan. How much disk space does your plan have?

ONCE UPON A TIME there was a Warrior named Bob. He was sad. And frustrated. You see, Warrior Bob spent every last nickel on Internet Marketing e-books. But nothing panned out. No traffic. No sales. He was one sad Bob. Then one day Bob found a bottle. He rubbed it and out came a Genie who granted him 3 wishes. For Wish #1 Bob asked for a pet Dragon. Wish Granted. For Wish #2, Bob wanted Warriors' websites seen by 53 million TV viewers, for under $5 per broadcast. The Genie said... (click here)

No reason you can't put them all in shared hosting, even on Wordpress, as far as I know, if everything is unlimited. I don't know of a good static site creation tool, as I stick w/Wordpress. Just so much easier!

You could use WPMU then install domain mapping and create many thousands of sites all with their own URL and all running off a single WP install. But that depends on what you are doing with them.

Just be careful. There is a catch with unlimited hosting. They will allow you to host an unlimited number of domains, an unlimited number of email accounts, unlimited bandwidth transfer, and unlimited hosting space.

Unfortunately, what they fail to tell you is that they will not allow you to have an unlimited number of files on your shared hosting account. That is how they will ban your account, so please be careful.

I almost learned this the hard way. Fortunately, they placed a warning on my account, and I was able to move my websites to a dedicate server with a new hosting company.

Yes, they have some limit of 250,000 files in a shared hosting. Thanks for your suggestion.. I will be below this limit..

    Oh my,

you will QUICKLY run into troubles with more than one WP site on *shared* hosting. In fact, i myself ran into trouble with just ONE site on some shared hosters - especially if you run some advanced plugins like autobloggers etc.

I moved all my sites now to a VPS...and even that VPS i had to optimize *heavily* so it can handle all my sites at the same time. So..for your average shared i would keep it ONE (max. two) wordpress sites - but then no fancy plugins, remote posting etc. whatsoever. WP *can* be quite a resource hog, and shared hosters dont like that.

Yes, with autoblog plugin, this is a very serious issue. But I am not trying autoblogging and heavy plugin.. Just 5-10 posts with 5 must have plugins..

Please be careful, sometimes unlimited is not unlimited at all; you get what you pay for.
There are enormous differences from a shared account and another.
My advice is to stick with Hostgator, i have a baby plan with about 20 WP sites and no problems. Obviously if you are using resource intensive plugin you can run into problems.
I use several hosting services like HostMonster, HostSo, Hostdeal (purchase hered as Wso few days ago); they are good but as i said Hostgator imho is at another level.
I had an awful experience with WebHostingPad, the Cpu quota is very low and you can easily run into troubles.

Even i have been using Hostgator since the last three years and haven't come across a problem. I just love the service and the staff. Even all my sites are WP but surely they are many more around 80-85 and it's all going well till now.

80-85 is an important number; in this case i think that the limit can be the number of inodes.
Inodes (index nodes) contain information about the files that you upload and identifies them on the server.
Consider that HostGator recommend to limit the usage under 250,000 inodes and, over 100,00 inodes only DB files and not the static files are backed up on the scheduled weekly backup.

HostGator is quite good and safe.

If you are using wordpress then it's database driven. So each "page" is not an actual file on the server, just another database entry.
But if you are planning on hosting 400 wordpress sites, then you might get performance problems.

Start building those sites and when you see performance issues, just get a new baby hostgator plan and continue there.

I'd say you should be okay hosting up to 5
