Dreamweaver + Amember? Need Help!

Hello guys,

I was wondering how these two programs work with each other? I am interested in creating a membership website, but i am fairly new to all this stuff and how it works exactly. So correct me on how these two software's can work together to create a membership website.

After i create a website with adobe Dreamweaver do i just use amember to make it a membership website? Do i build all my pages on Dreamweaver and use amember to block certain pages from certain members? I am just wondering how this whole process works, so if someone could explain in detail what exactly i need to do that would be greatly appreciated.

To help you guys out some more i will explain my website idea. I plan on creating a website where once people sign up they then have the ability to download files from my site whether it be ebooks, videos, or just other downloadable goods.

The last thing i was wondering is, how do i build web pages where people can download my ebooks and videos? Does adobe Dreamweaver have a feature where i can create downloadable buttons so people can download my ebooks right from my site or is that something amember does?

Sorry to hassle you guys like this, but i just want to make sure i do things properly. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Amember alone can handle all your requests.
You can create different memberships or products. Protect files, folders and pages based on the users subscription. You can create custom sign up pages for different memberships/products.
There is no need to use example Dreamweaver for it, as you can edit the current pages for Amember.
For that i suggest you to create a custom theme and make the changes on that one. Then you avoid your theme edits to be overwritten in an update of Amember.

The new version of Amember gives you alot of flexibility to do most things from the backend of it.

If you should need more help around it then let me know.

Thank you so much i had no idea that Amember could handle all those tasks.

So is amember kinda like Dreamweaver itself? Does amember give you the option to build costume templates and pages like dreamweaver? Cause i thought you had to use dreamweaver to create the site and then use amember to block certain pages from certain members.

Its a good thing im asking you these question or else i could have wasted allot of time.

      Thank you

    Hey Preston,

I own both Dreamweaver and an aMember license. Both are terrific.

However, is sounds like you might want to reconsider both of these because they can get quite technical. Powerful membership sites can be built with WordPress and a few plugins.

I have no affiliation with, but recommend: tipsandtricks-hq.com. Their plugin works well and support is terrific.

    Good luck.

This is something you shold consider for your site. If you want to use Wordpress with an member plugin. You can even use Wordpress and integrate with Amember.

Is your site going to grow during the years? If so i would have started up with Wordpress and a membership plugin/Amember integration. That way your site is ready to add in example more articles, pages or whatever would be needed to add in.
Think two years in the future where you want your site to be.

I most definitely do plan on adding content/product on a regular basis. So saying this WordPress would probably be my best bet?

Are you saying if i use Dreamweaver i wont be able to edit or add content as my site grows?

        Thanks again

If you use Wordpress you do not need Dreamweaver at all, since Wordpress let you generate categories, posts and pages. Where you use the text editor in Wordpress backend to type in text, add images or media etc.
