Hi guys just wanted to ask how can I change the title of "Categories" in my wordpress?

For instance if I didn't want it to say categories but something like ''Memoirs'' or ''Works''

I've tried reading through other threads on categories but didn't find anything
however if it is there somewhere and I missed it please redirect me.

Otherwise can someone please tell me how I can change the word ''categories'' to any other desired word.

Kind Regards

    You can edit the categories name from Posts-->Categories-->Drag cursor on category name which you would like to change and click on edit and change the category name and click on update category.

    To change the title of the categories widget, go to appearance > widgets, click on the right end of the categories widget title bar, and then put in your own title. Click save and then click "close."

    Does this help?

    Hey Teez

    Wordpress Menu on the left hand side
    => go to "Posts"
    => Goto "Categories
    => on the right hand side, you see your categories
    => click to edit

    done!

    Cheers

    ah, so it's about chaging the menu title.

    Okay so

    WP Admin bar
    => Appearance
    => Menu

    you should see your menu items. Click on the one and edit "Navigation Label".

    That should do it.

    Cheers,

    Hi Rob I tried your second suggestion but when I clicked on appearance and then menus the only option there regarding menus is to create a new one.

    I've been trying all weekend to no avail.

    Somehow Im thinking it has to be changed in the theme editor or something techy like that

      It's considered a useless and "dumb" thing trying to correct people's spelling - but when it comes about db (=database) it's dump

    For a change... give YOUR website's URL (not someone else's) so that the helpers can see the theme in use, it's code and give you the proper answer instead of guessing!

    Not knowing which theme is active on your blog - nobody will be able to tell you what to do.

    I might be wrong, but I think OP is asking how to remove the .../category/... base from the URL?

    If that's what your asking, try this plugin, works good & is simple to use.

    WordPress › WP No Category Base « WordPress Plugins

    Hi Yukon thanks for the reply but simply put the theme is this

    imbalance.wpshower.com

    and it has the categories in the tab

    Now what I want is to make it like this site

    eduardorh

    where it was changed to ''Works''

    I think the could change the category base, but the menu must pull it somewhere from....

    Best suggestion:

    In there menu part i showed you before - create a CUSTOM menu, make it look the way you want, and then use that one as the theme's main navigation.

    So basically in the menu area, create a manual menu item called "works" or whatever you want to call it, and then put your categories as subitems.

    Will take you 2 mins to do and later you're free to change your menu the way you like it.

    That should do it.

    Cheers,
    Rob

    Thanks to Robkonrad and Ktmakwana Yukon for all the useful help they offered on this issue.

    I have now found the answer and here it is as I suggested earlier that it may be something that it would need to be changed in the theme editor well it turns out that was the case

    In Header.php search for:
    <li><a href="#" rel="toggle[categories]" title="">categories<
    and replace the word categories, the one inside the > < with whatever you want.

    To anyone else who has this issue this should help you out.
