Okay so different programmers tell me different things.

i want to hear the ground on what u guys think is better and why.

Wordpress and joomla or others.

If you think it has more to do with the reason for your site like the functionality and features then pls state the differences in details for everyone.
#joomla #platform #wordpress

Wordpress if you want an easy almost turnkey solution, Drupal if you want to get your hands dirty and build "real" sites instead of Lego ones.

After using Joomla for several years for most of my own (and client) sites, I now prefer to use WordPress. The main reason is ease of use, not only for my clients (who are absolutely NOT tech-savvy), but also the speed with which I can implement things are a lot faster with WP. Plus SEO is far superior.

The WP developers/community have a whole different outlook to site structure and optimization than the Joomla guys. As I mentioned, Joomla used to be great (imho), but WP has taken over and, I believe, continue to do so for years to come.

    All the best
    Chris

P.S. - If you like the techie stuff, it's also possible to use WP on that level and create some outstanding sites (as you can in Joomla).

It's a "newbieee" question... therefore there is no real answer to it.

It's a matter of personal taste and preferences and/or familiarity with one of the tools.

Furthermore, other people's experience and choices will not save you from making your own decisions.

Like all things it really depends on the application. The difference between WordPress and Joomla is that Joomla is a portal- or community type site while WordPress is a blog. In my opinion WordPress is best.

All of them are just tools. It is YOU, who will make them good or bad tool. I built a lot of websites in the past using Joomla, Wordpress, Xsitepro, Microsoft Front Page and some other website building software.

I personally like Wordpress because I am using it for last year and half and it is very easy to use once you get familiar with. All other tools I used in the past are also good, but at one point I decided that I will use Wordpress to build all of my sites. I never regret it. I become a master and today I can build advanced sites in very short amount of time.

All of the above tools are great and you have to decide which one you will use and then stick with it and learn as much as you can.

  • Unless you have reason to build an exceptionally COMPLICATED site (which most in IM will rarely, if ever, need!) then Wordpress is the answer for most. Why?

You or your clients will be able to understand it quickly and easily with just a couple simple and quick lessons, which can be found on youtube and other places. Plus the Wordpress codex documentation is far superior to that of other CMS, and the wordpress.org forum is fairly responsive and doesn't have that "n00bs are for abusing" attitude that some open source software forums get after a community has "aged". The plugins allow you to do most, if not all, you'll ever need to do for most IM sites. One caveat is that adding too many plugins sometimes creates conflicts, so try not to overload your sites.

And for SEO Wordpress kicks serious butt. That right there is the number one reason many people use it.

I've used Joomla and Drupal, as well as much of the shopping cart software and created skins for all of them pretty easily.

My feeling is that Drupal is the better of the two, BUT . . . every time I go to actually USE the dang cms I remember why I don't use it. Obscure and jargon laden documentation and just way too complicated! Joomla is actually easier in that regard, and creating a site is fairly straightforward, but I've had things go horribly wrong with Joomla sites by adding some of the module and add-on functionality. Though there are some helpful people on the Joomla forum, this is one of those communities where getting a helpful answer without knowing the jargon is sometimes impossible. The Drupal community seems more helpful in general, but the amount of jargon surrounding that program would fill a book the size of Webster's Unabridged! And with both Joomla and Drupal forums, if you don't know the jargon, it's hard to ask the question. It's also common to get the answer "Did you use the forum search first?" which is sometimes hard to do and get a meaningful answer without the aforementioned jargon dictionary!

It's not the tool that matters; its what you make of it. Joomla and Wordpress both have their strong points but you dont use a tool just because its got so many features.

Drupal is the safest, most dependable and complete CMS there is.

Joomla, is far better and easier in terms of flexibility compared to Wordpress.

Wordpress is great for those who do not have time to learn real web design or code, or anything like that.

As far as SEO goes, none of these CMS's are going to get you anywhere if you don't know what you're doing.

In terms of selling web design services.. Magento sites > Drupal > Joomla > Wordpress. Wordpress sites are generally the cheapest. If you want to make some money, typically the higher quality clients will want higher quality sites.

haha ya, my ID is newbieee lol.

and yes i agree with you and most of the statement above, it really depends, but i just want to hear peoples views and experience.
      That was the purpose.

Like books and talk shows that have title that goes something like "Which is better, A or B?" and at the end of the show it doesnt give u a definite answer, its more of just telling u both sides of the details and people having experience with A and B.

The final choice is still the user.

WordPress is simple enough for beginners, when you need time to explore the concept of the CMS JOOMLA. Therefore, it is very difficult to compare the JOOMLA and WordPress. If you do not know the best way is to control things at the same time, testing, installation, and then decide what is best for your site. Whether you choose to use the system, which is a good support.

There are many alternatives. I myself have tried a wide variety of titles including WP, Simple Machines, Xoop, Joomla and many more before finally switching all my sites to the SoNET Web Engine (for which I am now an Evangelist). For starters, there is a free version and it comes with everything you need to generate websites or/and create a social network. It is fast, works for us MS Windows Server types and the price is right.

For ease of use, SEO-friendliness, go for WordPress.
For a larger, more powerful site requiring extended functionality, go for Joomla.
Stay away from Drupal if you're not a programmer.

I've used Joomla for YEARS and have only really been getting into WordPress in the past year. I'm quickly beginning to like WordPress a lot. For my web clients, the learning curve is MUCH shorter with WordPress than Joomla.

I haven't really tried anything other than WordPress, but I found no reason to bother with alternatives, as WordPress was perfect for me; it is not too complicated, you can upload and edit the content and design easily, and there are plenty of features that you can control with true ease.

To anyone who isn't a computer genius- I would certainly recommend WordPress.
