Dumb ? About Uploading Plugins To WP

Hi all,
I am getting ready to try to either upload or ftp some plugins to 17 blogs.

My question:

Can I put the plugins into a folder on my computer and then insert the folder into the ftp program or would I have to upload each individual plugin?

Still new to this and trying to find the fastest way.

If you have 2.7 you can upload in the admin. I think you have to do them one at a time unsure.
