Hi Everybody!

I have a website that is 2 years old and was built on Thesis version 1.7. I do not like thesis because I think its more of a pain in the butt. How would I change this over to a normal wordpress sight without losing rankings, post etc.? I find it easier to post using wordpress without Thesis. Or maybe anyone has tutorials on how thesis works? But I would like to get rid of Thesis without losing anything.

Any advice would be appreciated!

      1) do you have a link to the site?
      2) if you are not moving it to another domain, you won't loose your rank etc.
      3) if you are simply switching themes, back up your database and posts (as you should be regularly, anyway), install a new theme and activate it. You may need to make some adjustments to the posts as the style sheet will change from your current theme.
If you need help just post here - I do a lot of wordpress work and will be happy to help.

You shouldn't lose ranking because your permalink is stay the same.

Just click Appearance and click activate on Twenty Eleven. You will lose all styling, but not your posts.

The beauty of WP is that content and design (styling) are separated. Your current SE ranking is based on your content, not on how the website looks like. As long as you keep the same CMS system with the same database - meaning same content - same permalink, pages, posts, images (and their alt tags), etc. you should be fine.

That's only dependent on how one theme is set up to the other, it all depends on how drastic of a change is going on. Id say in most cases 90% of the time there should be no immediate effect on ranking.

as long as you are not going to change the URL or content, you won't loose rank or any other thing will go wrong.

Thesis is so flexible that I have been able to make it look just about like anything. Between CSS and the Thesis hooks customizing is a breeze. Have you hit the site for the design and mod tutorials? Consider upgrading to the most current release, which has a lot of built-in style modification functionality?
