Askimet - Is there a Free or Cheaper Spam Blocker?

Well - that is the question - Askimet is 50 a month.

(Although I did allow several comments from blogs that had a page rank I wanted, if they were not too off the wall.)

      ??? I've used Akismet on all my blogs for years and it's never cost me a penny. Every time I set up a new blog, I just past in the Akismet activation code and payment has never been required.
