I agree. You can buy a domain name, create a site. Then you can create subdomains & create sites for the subdomians as well. Once you have that in place, then post your sites so we can see your work.

U cant start your web designing carrier right now coz learning some basics from photoshop which already provides u all types of facilties and html is not a big deal. You must learn asp or any other language like PHP which is really helpfull for creating a website then pursue with other languages.

  • Most sites are scripted these days so you have to learn to work with whatever templating system they use. Wordpress themes, Cubecart skins, magento skins, Joomla themes, whatever.

I am new in program too, just like you....i been studying html and css for the past 4 months. But honestly i am not ready to do anything at all. Of course I created my first web site as you can see in my signature, but at the same time so far right now i am not able to do more things. So, i ordered other books. Personally i think within a year or max 2 years i will be able to say: I can start at least a decent site. but overall, i think it will take between 5 and 7 years to be a very good web designer. of course this is just my opinion.

The coding of a web page is one task of the web designer, but there is a lot more to it than that. What you need to be able to do is visualise what you want your site to look like, and then have the knowledge to get it there. Once you have something resembling what you want your site to be, you then need to polish the design, and make it functional, easily-useable and visually appealing.

It helps to have an eye for the aesthetics of a webpage, and to know what looks good, and what doesn't. You also need to be able to observe how each element of the web page interacts with the others, be it actively or passively, and be able to have an idea of how a visitor will view and be directed around your site.

Look, I could go on about this for ages, but what is really important is just that you get started, make some practice pages, and get your confidence up. Ask for advice, feedback and reviews on your sites, and use this to further improve your web design skills. Once you've built up a good familiarity with the foundations of good web design, then you will find the rest should just fall in place

Good luck mate, and all the best for your web design career!
