    HI,

I dont think the "theme" you choose through them will impact on Search engine optimisation particularly. But its important to look credible and make the sort of impact you would like on your target audiance.

Good rankings are about "content." :-)

Useful to look at Googles SEO tools.

    2011. (edit: <--- that's a theme name)

Actually, it does matter what theme you use: as with every other aspect of the life, theme designers are not equal. Some are brilliant at SEO, others are dumba$$es...

My take on this is that although Themes do not directly impact your SEO, you do get themes that cause your sites to load slow... Google does not like slow websites.

With that being said, I have heard good things from the following themes:

    Thesis
    Socrates
    Headway

    Hope this helps

The best way to go is to buy a nice looking premium WordPress theme online, then install some SEO plugins such as All in One SEO Pack, then add content and start link building your site.

I have just activated and set Yoast up. The Title and Description tags aren't registering when I search my site in Google, nor are all my pages showing when I google "site:www.mysite.com"
Does it take a while to take effect?

it will take a few days to weeks. Google does not change that stuff quickly.
I find it fun to watch the stuff change in Google. large sites can take a month to settle down after a change like that.

I basically use 2011 theme until the site gets a little traction, that is, at least 100 visits per day.

I take care of these points as soon as I install WordPress on my blogs:

    1. Install All in One Seo plugin and copy a set of keywords I am concentrating for that month. At least 15 in number. For the entire month that follows I try to rank my site for those keywords. Even linkbuilding.

    2. Google Analytics setup
    3. Install Google XML-Sitemaps
    4. Submit sitemap to Google Webmaster tools after writing and posting atleast 3 articles

That's it. All this happens in two hours time and I am good to go with writing and adding more value to the blog. SEO takes care of itself. But, if you want to totally dominate the market, then you should rush to WSO section.

Finally, Go with 2011 first, then move out to any theme that appeases to your niche.
