Criticism desired for my very first product landing page

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and internet marketing in general. I posted up in the copywright forum to get some tips on my sales copy of my very first product, but I'd also like to get some ideas on my website layout and design.

My site is:
battlefield3battlebook.com

Also, I was considering putting a blog up on my site to generate some organic traffic. Would this be a bad idea because it distracts the user from my main sales page? Or maybe I have the blog link to the sales page, but the sales page does not link to the blog. Thoughts?

Thanks!

I like the site design. The image header is too small and you have a large white space. The footer design is great, but the text should be centered. Good luck!

I dont think the header image is to small... if anything it is to large. You do have to much white space. making the header image smaller will decrease that.
Then you need to add something to the right of the logo.

The narrow space between the video and the line breaking the area bugs me. Need to add a <br/> tag or some padding.

    Autoplaying video helps conversions.

    Other then that, I like.

I'll look into how I can tweak that heading section with your suggestions. I've set up autoplay as you recommended. Thanks!

Make the header image like 50% smaller, then

make "The first and only smart guide for Battlefield 3!" run full width above the video and below the header image. That will make that title the center of attention. You only need the logo for brand recognition, it does not need to be the main focus.

It looks like a good sales page, I wouldn't look for perfection, or spend time on perfecting the design. I have wasted so much time worrying about perfect design and could have used that valuable time trying to convert sales. Little tweaks like auto playing the video should help but focus on getting sales. I think with targeted traffic you could make some good money.

nickriva! Great site! The video is capturing, the text is short and sweet, you introduce the offer right away and the text is very readable. I'm actually rethinking my own site now. sigh..

    Looks good. A few suggestions:

    * Place the features list above your buy button.
    * Change the color of "guarantee box" to yellow or something similar. Blue doesn't seem to be working.
    * Disclaimer text should be spread across the page width to make it occupy less height. This will prevent attracting users' attention.
    * Video should be shown using some plug-in such as FlowPlayer or JWPlayer to avoid YouTube ads

Personally I'd make the title one row and the subtitle going right under it. I would make it a similar style to Battlefield's (meaning white) and would get it off the content section, right above the content section so it sits on the background. I would also fancy up the guarantee box. I would move the guarantee down so it's right above the second order button, the first order button I would make it simpler, and I would rewrite the bottom headline (so it doesn't start with if).

    Hope this helps,
    Alex
