Problem with Word Press Org Affiliate Links added to Images Not Working

I am trying to add Affiliate Links to images in my wordpress.org blog site.

Found a good video and followed same. All appeared to be working, then broken link checker informed me that the four links were not working.

Seems wordpress.org is throwing in code i.e. instead of just the Affiliate code it is putting http://www.mindsetpowersite.com/freebies/then the actually affiliate link.

Of course, this means that when clicked it goes to my freebies/gifts page which doesn't contain the affiliate page, resulting in the 404 error message.

Have placed a request for help on the wp forum but so far no response, so am trusting that someone on the Warrior Forum can help me out. Been searching on every search engine to try to find a solution but seems I am the only person having this problem:confused:

The method I used to insert the link was to use the 'edit' icon on the image and insert the affiliate link from the "http://www.affiliate link and as I said, this appeared to work when I first did it, then for unknown reasons, I now have the code leading to my page in front

Anyone know the answer? I am not at this point using any plugins to cloak my affiliate links, mainly just haven't been game enough, as I am having too many challenges already

I looked at your site, but don't see the problem - can you post a link to a specific example of the issue?

Thank you, sure can : http://www.mindsetpowersite.com/freebies/

The images are Ed Spina, Alan Tutt, Anisa Aven and Dr. Joe Robino - the text links are working, but not the image links.

As I have said in reply to the post below, I have put the http:// in before the affiliate link, although at first, I didn't clear the url in the edit image box but after losing my images, found a video which showed exactly what to do and all worked well, until I logged off. Then, as I have said, got the message that I had broken links and found the coding had changed to http://www.mindsetpowersite.com/freebies/"http://affiliate link.

So puzzled as to why this has happened

Not exactly... but I have a suspicion: issues like the ones described by you happen when the user is typing/adding an incorrect URL, e.g.
    Code:
    example.com
    or
    Code:
    www.example.com
The correct way to put a URL in an anchor tag is to start with http://
    - without the http:// part the browser will "read" the address on a page of yours exactly as you described it:
    Code:
    http://yourdomain.com/another-domain-written-incorrectly.com
    Signature

Thank you. I do have the http:// in my coding which is why I am so puzzled.

I put in "http://Affiliate link etc.

What is now showing is http://www.mindsetpowersite.com/freebies/"http://affiliate link

I did make the mistake at first, of not clearing the url link in the 'edit image' and managed to 'wipe out' my image completely. However, after searching the net found a video which showed quite clearly how to put affiliate links in images and as such, followed same. It worked as I said, at first but after logging off, next day broken link checker informed me of the broken links. I found that the domain name and page of my site was once more in the coding. Tried again and again, to get it to work but to no avail.

Am sure it's something 'small' that I have overlooked, or am not aware off but not sure what:confused:

I think the main problem is that you are including the quotes when you enter in the URL. Additionally, the

    target="blank"

shouldn't be included when you paste the link.

To fix it, in the WordPress editor, click on the image and you'll see two icons in the top left.

Click on the icon on the left to edit the image.

In the link URL, enter (for the Ed Spina image)

    https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?cl=112033&c=ib&aff=132750

Note no quotes, ahrefs or any other extraneous tags.

BTW, you probably would be better using the Pretty Link plugin to make your affiliate links look less obvious.

Thank You so much Has worked with all the images/links except Ed Spina:confused: Tried taking the 's' out of the http part, not sure if this matters or not but it hasn't made any difference. This is the message I got from e-junkie

Argh! We were unable to locate the page you were trying to load.
To save your last click, you must invest another.
Go to E-junkie and do a search.

Am thinking I need to write to Ed. Had problems with e-junkie links before.

Yes, you're right, I do need to use Pretty Links plug in, will do that a.s.a.p. taking a deep breath and thinking positive I can make it work - first time around

Your ED SPINA image link has somehow become truncated:

    Code:
    http://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php...=ib&aff=132750
    instead of
    Code:
    https://www.e-junkie.com/ecom/gb.php?cl=112033&c=ib&aff=132750
Just re-enter that one. (You probably copied it from a forum where it was truncated?)

Thank you Yes, I did copy it straight from the forum, didn't stop to think it may be truncated. Works like a charm now

Huge thanks once more to everyone who has helped me. Warriors rock!
