I wasn't sure which section to post this is in so I figured Website Design might have someone in it that could help me. I feel retarded but here's what happened. I started a website last June and wrote some articles for it for a month or so and then pretty much forgot about it. Pretty typical newbie story, I know. A few weeks ago I decided to "get back into" IM and take it more seriously but in the meantime I had received a new laptop for Christmas and my wife had deleted ALL my passwords, names, and information from my desktop because she thought I had already transferred them over to my new computer. So now I have a website that I can't add to or change in any way. Which stinks, because when I figured out my google adsense password I realized I'd made about 10$ in adsense from June to December. I've already been able to recreate my names and passwords for hostgator, namecheap, ezinearticles, etc BUT every time I try to log into my admin for my website I haven't been able to figure it out. When I go to reset the password it tells me that it has been sent to my email address but it never shows up at my main email address that I THOUGHT had used to set it up. Or it tells me that email address isn't valid. I never set up a email address for my website (cause i didnt know how at the time). I've figured out what email address they want (shibbey@greentipsforyou.com) BUT I'll be damned if I remember ever setting it up. Any helpful ideas would be really appreciated because I've been driving myself crazy for two weeks trying to figure this out. And obviously I'm not a computer genius. Thanks. |

I presume you're using a CMS? Is it something like Wordpress or Joomla? I can see it's Wordpress having looked at the site. If you PM me I can assist you with this. Jonathan |

Thank you both for your replies but I figured it out last night right before I went to bed. I went into my hostgator program and created the email account (shibbey@greentipsforyou.com) and as soon as I finished, the reset password email from WP was in my mail box. Wish I had thought of it sooner....LOL. |

If you are using Wordpress and are able to get into the database usnig phpMyAdmin with Hostgator you can change your password by using an MD5 hash convertor. If you need step by step, let me know, but there is a cool step by step here... I can't post links yet, but google wp-emergency-password-recovery for a neet little utility. |
