Posting my Website on hostgator???

Hi there, I have some code written up for a new website, but I don't really know how to upload it onto my hostgator account so it shows when i type in the url. So far i have been using only wordpress blogs which are so easy to install, but i want to have more options and move away from the blog format. I know how to write code, and then open them up locally in my browser and view them. Once i upload the pages will i have to do something extra to get pictures and links to other pages of my site to work because currently I have them linking back to the local files on my computer which works well when browsing on my computer but i imagine will cause problems if i upload it.

    If you're looking to upload HTML files to your server on Hostgator, you can do so using an FTP client or using the File Manager in your cPanel.

    Make sure to name your home page index.html. And of course, you will want to change all of your local server links to your domain.

    However, I wouldn't be so quick to discount Wordpress as a blogging platform. My site, as well as sites I build for clients, is built on Wordpress. It is a very robust system, and according to the questions you are asking...it could possibly be the simplest way for you to achieve what you want with your website.

      Thanks for the info, I was under the impression that wordpress was mainly for making blogs and not for making websites as most people see them. If I can indeed make my website with wordpress I would be pretty excited since it's very easy to use, ill start looking into that! thanks again!

    Uploading files to your hosting account is a little bit hard for the first time, but using the ftp software like filezilla you can do it easily, to avoid problem of your images you need to put it a one folder called /images in your code use the image code like /images/header.jpg.

    Agreed with the above poster, FTP clients such as filezilla would be your best option. Or if possible, simply use the "file manager" option in your cpanel. Just gather your hostname and password to access your hosting via FTP. Best of luck
