is there a good way to remove old listing from google search results?

WEB DESIGN

I built a demo site for a client on a domain and have since removed it from the demo site, but the demo page still shows up in google search results on page 1, far outranking the actual website i built for the client. Not cool. I have resubmitted the results to google for both the real, live site and the now non-existent demo site, but the demo is still there after several days of doing and redoing this.

Any tips?

It's been going on for a few days. The real site just launched on the 1st and the business owner called me to say their site wasn't showing up anywhere in search results. Since then I've been doing all I can to bump it up, but the older demo site outranks it by far.

You can go to the demo sites webmaster tools and remove the pages

There are pros and cons to this but how about putting up a doorway page at the old url and forwarding it to your client's site?
