Shoot me if I remember this wrongly, but there should be a free wp plugin for that purpose.
    Just do searching

It's not free but a $1 trial for 30 days for Aweber...I would be careful about free email systems if you value your list. It's $19 a month after the $1 trial.

Many of the free services are free for a reason. Aweber is a known company with a product that works. I would recommend going this route. If you absolutely have to use free services you could go with MailChimp. Could always start with one and convert to the other once the list takes off as well.

aweber is the way to go, if you possibly can. They take extra care to have their servers whitelisted and the lists clean and maintained. You are not likely to run into problems, even if your lists grow into the thousands of users.

Within WordPress, there are a couple of autoresponders I've used. The best appears to be [gwa]autoresponder -- already mentioned freeautoresponder . biz . A very reasonable version is free, but I paid for the upgrade to get even more.

I was using WP Autoresponder And Newsletter Plugin. It worked fine at first, but I ran into some compatibility issues later on, so I switched.

The downside to using an autoresponder within wordpress is that the emails are coming from your site. Most hosting companies don't like it if you send a bunch of emails through your site. Some emails are fine, but not a lot.

What I'm doing is using GWA now, but once I have an active list of significant size, moving up to aweber.

Mailchimp is free for upto 2500 subscribers last time I checked, but there is a limit to the emails you can send (I think unless it's changed).

Madmimi offers a free option but it's limited to 100 users, but you can send unlimited emails.

There's a plugin you could take a look at called WP Autoresponder & Newsletter that I saw a while back.

If you simply want to deliver your blog posts to them via email you could try the Jetpack sign up or the subscribe2 plugin.

Personally I use WPSubscribers plugin and Aweber, but they're not free.

You could try listwire, that's free but if you don't get any opt-ins for a particular time period (I think it's 60 days) they'll cancel your account .. well last time I checked they may have changed it since then.

Remember the old phrase, you get what you pay for .. I know you don't have the cash now and you can get by without paying for an autoresponder etc ... it's just not recommended because your list isn't really safe, because when you dont pay for a service, you're not entitled to it either I guess - so make sure you back up your list regularly just incase.

So think about the paid options for a later date once you've earnt some cash through the free options, but I wouldn't recommend staying with the free options if you have the money.
