Subdomains and Wordpress

I'm setting up a website and would like to use subdomains. But it looks like wordpress would need to be installed separately on all subdomains? Is there an easy way to set this up or do I just need to keep installing wordpress on each subdomain?

I found a plugin that looks like it would get around this but it doesn't work with the latest version of WP. I also consulted Google but didn't find anything helpful.

It'll be easier if you install your wp blogs in some subdirectories of your site. (i.e www.yourdomain.com/wpblog1, www.yourdomain.com/wpblog2, www.yourdomain.com/wpblog3). You can use Fantastisco to do it in minutes.

Yeah it would be much easier to do it this way but for what I'm doing it really needs to be subdomains.
