    Why on earth would you want a flash website???

    The might look pretty but they can't be viewed on ipads or iphones and they have a hight bounce rate as people click away before they are finished loading..

    You can use SwishMax for a very Flash-based animation or website. But Flash-based websites are not good for SEO.

    You can use SwishMax or Adobe Flash.
    Instead of flash, try using html5 and css3 plus jquery
    html5 + css3 + jquery = flash-like website

      flash website is larger than any other normal website and take a long time to open a page. may be user don't like this heavy page. its make a page good look but time consuming. you should avoid these flash website.

    Please, please, please...don't create a flash website. Flash is getting phased out and I tell everyone you want to stay away from flash.

    Flash is not mobile friendly or seo friendly. Plus...Adobe is moving away from it too because they know that it is old technology.

    They are developing new software called Adobe Edge for creating, like robie said "html5 + css3 + jquery = flash-like website"

    Stay away from flash, focus on html and css sites and use css and jquery for animations.

    I agree with a lot of the posters about the reasons you may not want to be looking at a flash website. If you want to do it and have a good reason for wanting flash wix.com offers some pretty cool little flash sites you can customize.

    Thank every one answered your question already.

    Flash was replaced with video and for good reason.

    Long time back I messed with making flash banners, with both the Macromedia Full Flash Program and Swish, there's a learning curve thats for sure.

    there's some functionality we developed using flash actionscript for some really cool database driven animation..

    but now as you say it seems to be on its way out.. does anyone here use actionscript for advanced flash functionality? what are you thoughts going forward.. html5 seems very basic in comparison

    Flash pages are no good for SEO. Search engines can't read them. Why not create a static website with jQuery powered animation on the sliders and menus. Use HTML 5 and CSS 3 for web standards.

    Hey Mate

    Creating a flash site is fun and looks great for your visitors to see, but it has many disadvantages, because before creating any site you need to keep few things in mind

    First - your visitor might be viewing it in any kind of browser
    Second - Your visitor might not have the required plugin or software to view flash files
    Third - Your visitor might be using a connection which is slow
    Fourth - Your visitor can have any kind of screen size while viewing

    Also, from the SEO point of view flash sites are not preferred as they are not bot friendly

    So what I would suggest is use AJAX and jquery rather than making a flash website.
    What you can do is put some part in your site as flash like say for example your portfolio page.

    Again if you still think of going for a flash based website make sure to keep a normal HTML or PHP site along the same line to cater to different kind of visitors.

      i agree, i have no interest in building flash sites
      my interest in flash is developing database driven dynamic flash animations that embed on any webpage in the same way a video does..
      understand and agree about all the seo etc
      theres nothing else that can do what we use flash for
