Delayed hover box for business website

Hi,

I have a website for an IT-company (B2B), and am thinking about creating a delayed hover-box there, to gather newsletter subscribers.
I'm thinking that it might annoy our visitors, or that it would not suit a professional B2B company website.
What do you think, and do you have experience with this?

My website is in classic asp and I'm using mailchimp for the newsletter. Do you have any sample code for creating such a delayed hover box (so that it only appears once in every user session and preferably only once or twice a month)?

Thanks.

Regards,
Thomas

In my opinion, if you're running a B2B site, any pop-ups, fly-ins, and hover boxes could annoy visitors.

I don't mind those features when I know that I'm visiting an Internet Marketing site.

However, when I'm at a site that's more brick-and-mortar in style, I'd rather sign up for the newsletter (or whatever) in a form in the sidebar. The other approaches look a little desperate to me.

In addition, browser software can block many kinds of pop-ups, and so your B2B website visitors might never see the offer.

That's my (admittedly) very opinionated two cents! But, I'm an artist and probably hypersensitive to visual effects at websites.

    Thanks, aisling.
That was what I thought as well, but it's always good with confirmation.

Thanks, and have a great weekend.
