What is difference between HTML and XML

HTML is basically a language used by websites and website designers to tell your browser how to display the content of the webpage to the visitor. For example should the heading be displayed in bold, a paragraph in italics etc...

XML is a standard on how to organize/order data. XML is mainly used to exchange data between different proprietary systems, servers, applications, websites etc. XML makes it easy to exchange data since the user has to follow certain guidelines and they are usually universally followed.

It is also used by software and websites to store data.
