WordPress: Post within Pages Help

Hi,
I am new to WordPress and website building. I have read the differences between pages and posts and understand what each is used for. I understand that you can categorizes posts, which is what i want to do but the category archive page doesn't really allow you to create a home page feel for each category. I would really like the option to have a description and possibly images before the actual content or posts. Kind of like mini separate blogs within one major mother blog. For instance lets say I want to have a car site on different car companies and I want the car company Ford to be one static page describing Ford and its history. Then under Ford page will be posts related to Ford. Doing this same operation for every car company. (hopefully that makes sense.)

Is there anyway around it? Are there any themes, premium themes or plugins that I could get that have this option and coding built? Tried looking for plugins but I came up short. Or is it just the way WordPress operates. Should I maybe switch to Drupal or Joomla for the feature I am looking for? Sorry in advance, you probably heard this question a million times.
Thanks!

Just because you don't know how to do it... it doesn't mean it cannot be done.

Create category-XX.php template files for each category (XX=ID) and put there whatever you want.

Also, you can use all kind of template tags to display info like: category description etc.
