So lately I have noticed that when I mess with the post it takes 30-40 seconds to update with or without all of the plugins installed. It seems slow sometimes as well.

Can anyone relate to this..?

There can be many reasons. If you're on a server shared with many other users, then when many of you are on the server, it gets slow. The other possibility is your connection. If too many people in your neighborhood are all using the Internet at the same time, it can slow down your transfer speed between your computer and your server. It's difficult to tell without being able to check your transfer speeds and without access to the server. If you have a dedicated server, maybe something else is running on it?

Most likely that's your problem. Overloaded poor performing servers will cause that. Remember, when it comes to hosting, you get what you pay for.

Is it on shared hosting? If yes, that's probably it.

Also, is your wordpress updated to the latest version?

This is what he said in his answer...

Note that a VPS is also a shared solution (hence the cheap price) however it is likely to generally be faster.

I had the chance to test a website running on GoDaddy. Generally it was okay, but at time it would just be dog slow.

This is also a good suggestion in case some hacker penetrated the site and started using it for his own profits.

I would definitely look to your hosting first and foremost...If you're on shared hosting then there's only so much control you're ever going to have over the speed of your site. Perhaps it's time for an upgrade?

I don't know how many plugins you're running, but you could also try cutting a few of those. I've seen some surprising changes in site-speed myself by deleting some plugins, usually the socially oriented ones because they load additional scripts.

If you're not yet ready for a higher hosting plan, you can use a wp plugin called "wp speed cache"...

Also run Yslow and Page Speed on your site and see if you have any glaring issues.

Three places to look...Your Hosting and Your Plugins and Cacheing.......

Cut down on your plugins. In fact cut them all the way out and see if it is still slow. If not, then slowly add the plugins back. Some plugins slow your site down...

Use a caching plugin. Yep...use a caching plugin to speed up your performance. If you don't have a caching plugin running, then this is what you need to do first...

Cheap overloaded shared hosting can be your problem. You could be running nicely until someone with a big site gets put on your server...slows you down. Sometimes you can just be slow during certain times of day...Might be an influx of users, might be your host company running that backup during the middle of the day, might be something else. At any rate...you might look into other hosting if that is your problem...

It's probably the hosting. Look for a better, VPS solution and host there. If you don't have the budget for a new host, try cleaning your database, uninstalling some of the plugins, or consider using a CDN.

    Best of Luck.

    Caching plugin

less plugins if you're using many

    look into CloudFlare

    optimize your images

    reduce the amount of javascripts

I'm not sure why a VPS keeps getting mentioned, unless your site is using a lot of resources, you do not need a VPS. As long as you're hosting environment isn't overloaded, shared hosting is fine.

All of the recommendations from people are great. If you're getting a fair amount of traffic on shared hosting, then you're probably going to start having issues with performance and loading.

I would probably would also probably recommend running some quick tests on the site to see if there are any other bottlenecks. You could use something like webpagetest.org or pingdom.com to see if certain files are causing issues on the site. You also check to see which plugins on WordPress might be causing performance issues as well.
