Lost rankings after content change

I recently lost # 2 and # 3 also a # 12 rankings all pushed back into the 30's or 40's after I took away some paypal buy buttons and order forms.. This def. was not " seo optimized content" will my rankings going to come back this all happend in less then a day.. any help or thoughts would be appreciated thanks:rolleyes:
