I am looking for some templates to make landing pages, and it seems like all of them are for WP. Is this basically the going trend? Is it easier? I prefer HTML since I am comfortable with that method of loading it into kompozer and uploading via filezilla. But it looks like I have to learn WP.. Is it hard?

There are tons of non-WordPress templates out there. Do a search for "CSS website templates" or "XHTML website temlates"... that should get you started.

I also prefer HTML over WordPress for most projects. To me it's easier to work with, but that's just because I've spent a lot more time developing HTML sites than Wordpress sites.

But it really depends on your goals, and what you're comfortable working with. That said... for simple landing pages and the like, I think you'll find that plain HTML is easier to work with (especially if you're already comfortable coding it). I think WordPress is "overkill" for simple things like that.

There are a lot of HTML templates than there are for Wordpress. Try HTML + CSS templates. Just google: HTML Free Templates and you will find thousands.

For what you're trying to do I don't think you'd find there's much to learn, once you've got WordPress installed. I think WordPress is often used because it's so widely installed.

If you prefer to edit HTML yourself maybe you could just alter the WordPress template?

Actually, the reason you see so many squeeze/sales page templates offered for WP... is the opposite of what you think

Namely, the majority of IMers do NOT know any html/css at all; the only thing they every tried is WordPress and not being able to make a simple landing (squeeze/sales) page in HTML - they created a huge business opportunity for those that cane make a page template.

As it was said above: just look for normal, html templates, there are way more out there than specialty WP landing page templates. And stick to what you know and are comfortable: HTML editing.

Yay! Glad to see you guys addressing this.

I have a beautiful sales page template in html, but I want to be able to have a blog in the corner or the bottom as well. I've been tweaking it in Komposer, but only the basics b/c my html knowledge is minimal.

Mostly I want to "move" the html to my wordpress site since i"m mostly a wordpress girl.

Or, key in html sufficient to create a blog with comments and archives.

Can this be done? Or should I just give it up and take an html course?

        1. Yes, take a course... at least you will know what to ask

        2. In the way you described it - cannot be done. For more detailed explanation see #1.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

So another question: I downloaded the template folder and opened the CSS file in MS sharepoint, but when I clicked preview it was just a bunch of jumble, no design or anything. I was expecting to find an html document in there and edit that (what I am used to doing), but there was none. How can I edit or get CSS to look like a webpage..?

OK, I over-estimated your "HTML knowledge". For most people HTML goes together with CSS... and normal templates are ALWAYS html+css.

These are not only sold to one person. I purchased them with Resell Rights and they have been sold to others. Of course you can edit them if you are good with web design to make them look your own. They have some really great functions in them already set up. They are awesome to use for sites you want to earn with adsense, click bank and things like that. Each one is focused to a certain niche which is awesome. They are well worth the money. If you have any further questions let me know Id be happy to answer anything for youIf they were exclusive blogs then they would be sold seperately and be a great deal more than these are being offered. Either way ... they really are nice looking blogs with alot of great functions in place.
