So Last night I was creating content on one of my sites. I go to login this morning and I type in my credentials and it just goes to a blank screen and stays there.

I run this theme on several sites and all other sites are working fine, this site even works fine I jsut cant get into it

I uninstalled the plugins, no help, and it wasn't until I went back to the default theme that I was able to get back into the site.

Any ideas on what to check?

I like the theme, for a free theme its pretty decent, but I may be looking for paid theme suggestions. I have informational niche sites supported by advertising, this current site is a directory and later I'd like to start creating some sites around some simple information products.

Thanks,
Josh

Did you make any modifications to the theme in the Dashboard editor? I've found that is the #1 source of 'white death' WP problems.

Do you recall exactly what you were doing before you experienced the login problem?

The only thing I can think of that I edited, but then corrected, was I was trying to put Adsense ads in my post and there is a snippet of code you can find on the internet that you put in one of the main php files that allows you to use a variable like [adsense] in your post and it will display the ad instead of having to cut and paste the code each time.

(wow that was a terrible paragraph)

That being said I deleted it after it didn't work and I could still login to the site afterwards.

Wierdly enough I reinstalled the theme and it works again.

      Thanks

        There you go...
You thought you deleted it but obviously the operation wasn't successfully completed. It is enough to leave a semicolon or some other weird character in the file - and it dies.

It is NOT weird that reinstalling the theme made it to work: the fresh theme didn't have the garbage you left in the file(s).

Sounds fair, but you might have missed the part where I mentioned it worked fine after I got rid of my edits, and I was still able to login.

Either way, although I don't understand it I'm just happy disaster is avoided. This is a 50+ page Niche Site
