WordPress Or Joomla!!

I personally prefer Wordpress just because it seems most people create themes and plugins for Wordpress. Just look at the WSO section, everything created is for WP, you never see any Joomla things.

If you don't plan on using many plugins, or you are going to customize your own theme, you can certainly consider Joomla.

wp is easy to use and is one of the fastest growing platforms where it used to only be for blogging you can almost do anything with it now

Hey Ashish,

I've used Wordpress and Drupal in the past.

Personally, I find that the vast majority of internet marketing related items seem to be released for wordpress in particular. I haven't tried Joomla, but I imagine it's in the same boat as Drupal - it's neat, but the support just isn't there.

I Have a Joomla site and several wordpress sites. By far the easiest is wordpress by a country mile. Joomla just confuses me and I dont find it user friendly at all. I know some developers like it as I think you can actually do some nifty things with it but for most sites wordpress is better.
there are way more plugins and much more support for wordpress

Yes, WordPress all the way, because it has so much more different features and capabilities available.

Every IM'er uses it and I recommend you do the same. And, of course, you need to host your own domain name, because it's your business, not someone else's.

I started with Joomla about 4-5 years ago and built a couple sites in it. I didn't like WP at the time, but they were on v.2.8 or something.

By the time 3.0 came around, they were making some huge changes. Now, the functionality and ease of use are AWESOME. Menus are drag and drop. The ability to change and edit things, even after publishing, are awesome.

And the plugin choices and capabilities are endless. Any time I need something -- a quiz/survey, a nice-looking CSS-styled table, a video player, a completely custom form, etc...it's always about 3 clicks away and I've found it.

There are a few things that Joomla can do now WP can't without some major mod's, but they're for much larger-scale sites that 99% of us don't need. If you're just building websites, blogs, review sites, or squeeze and sales pages, it's Wordpress, 100%.

(BTW, if you're looking for a great theme to build squeeze and sales pages, membership sites, and more, go with OptimizePress. $97, unlimited use.)

Oh and SillySoft made a good point about using the most recent version for security reasons. You also want to make sure, if you're installing through cPanel, that you go with the Fantastico installer (or install it yourself). The cPanel in Hostgator offers a "QuickInstall;" it's a bit easier to use, but since you can only create the default Username of "admin," you're leaving a back door open for hackers who are looking for an "admin" username.

Joomla in the HOUSE. Joomla is just easier in my opinion. The content is layed out nice and easy to navigate. There is every plugin under the sun and it's very stable. I use version 1.5 on all my sites it's my preferred version.

If you are just offering CPA offers and some content then it would be best to use WordPress. Joomla is more for people who want a corporate type site, or who know php themselves and want to experiment. I find Joomla a pain to work with. Don't rule out Drupal though! They are gaining ground on WordPress every day, and while a tad more complicated, they are a really great platform to use and extend.

It is good - although it always depends what type of site(s) you have and what are the goals you want/have to achieve with the sites.
For some tasks WP is excellent.
For other tasks it's a so-so solution.
And there are tasks where WP is definitely the worst idea one can come up with.

I learned HTML in 1996 and have built many sites by hand. I also have built several sites in Joomla.

Among those solutions, Wordpress has been the clear winner for me. It's not just because it's "what everyone is using."

It would be helpful if you didn't lump everyone under one umbrella. No, Wordpress isn't a one size fits all solution for everything. But nothing is.

There are tons of reasons why it's so popular...not just because it IS popular.

And that said -- you're right. It IS best to try different systems, CMSs, site-building tools, and pick the best one for you.

Are there others that you would recommend? I've been reading some good things about Drupal's progress lately.

Just look above your post, please. When you have to deal (=delete, clean up) 43 such "intelligent" posts, you'd also be more inclined to generalize. This one was left there as an example to learn from.

I don't recommend even WP - I just know how and when to use it.

Years ago I discovered a nice little tool: at that time it boasted to be a one-file CMS (and it was!). It grew since then but it's still a good alternative for developers - I've made small sites for my friends with it: sNews.

We had a couple of clients last year that had Joomla.

So we had to learn how to use it. It took us 5 months to
get them to change to Wordpress. The lady in our office
told us it was harder for her to make changes.

She wanted to show one one of them how much
easier it waqs to use Wordpress. Brough owner in
and he understood right away.

He called his friend and both let us manage the sites
now with Wordpress.

Joomla is a mighty and very user valid teach management system (CMS). It can rightly be called an commence source solution that can be easily extinct by everyone who needs it for building websites and web applications.

For sure, if you want to build online store I strongly recommend using Joomla, but if you have plan to use for a blog, I prefer to use wordpress platform

I prefer wordpress CMS platform in my own blog. Because, WordPress provides dynamic and user friendly input with functions that also allow easy additions and overall customization. Also, The WordPress plug-in system is very user friendly and provide web developers to utilize a number of plug-ins without manual code entry.

Wordpress all the way for sure! So much easier than Joomla. There are a ton of themes out there. Not sure about cpa, havent really done much of that. None the less, I would look at premium themes as I find they are 'cleaner' and often loaded with additional features.

Wordpress is excellent to use when creating a blog, but it can be configured to work in many other interesting ways as well. Wordpress is more for end-users but Joomla is friendly for all types of users - designers, developers and webmasters.

In the past I would have gone with Joomla every time. However the last couple of Wordpress releases have really impressed me. Also when you take into account the sheer number of themes and plugins available it's hard to argue against Wordpress.

I am currently using word press and its great it got many guides, tutorials, plugins, themes and its user friendly so my suggestion is to go with word press.
