    It depends on your theme. If your theme supports custom headers, check under the "Appearance" tab

    Again, it depends on the theme. When you use the header option in the theme, it will tell you is dimensions it's going to use. Uploading a pic that exceeds the dimensions will give you an option to crop it. It's best to use an image that is the default dimensions.

    What is the best header image file size?

    A size that is giving you quality, but not out of control. I don't know a perfect size, but I strive for lower sizes to boost page speed (SEO/user experience)

    If you're not worried about custom fonts, you can customize your image where the blog text looks natural. For me, I hide it, because I'm already making an image so I use custom text. If you're trying to bang out headers, just use a background image and leave your text.

        In the heading tab under appearence (theme needs to support), there's a box to check/uncheck to display the blog name.

    As already mentioned, it depends on whether your theme has an option to upload a header.


    If not, then you'll need to modify the theme source code to insert the HTML for the header.

    The "best" header size is a size that is appropriate for your theme.


    A very ommon header size is 728x90

    The smallest you can get away with without sacrificing quality. You will get smaller file sizes with JPG compared to PNG, although PNG images have additional features that JPG don't.

    Depends on whether your blog name is important for SEO or not. If so, add it into the image alt description for the header image.

    If you are designing a site, you know the header size. If not, look into the code. There is no best header size. It depends on your needs.

      Choosing to display your blog title won't effect your SEO. As someone said, you can tag the image with your blog title in it if you want.

    The wordpress theme I have lets you put in a header image. Then off to the side is the OFFICIAL title, with a little description about the site... It is not overpowering...
    As far as i know a jpg file is just another file.
