Question: did you install Joomla in a folder named "joomla" under the > Computer > VistaOS(C) drive > xampp > htdocs?

It may be different on your machine but that's where XAMPP auto-installed itself last time I got it on one of my machines that has Vista.

EDIT. EVerything that you want to be visible on your local server MUST be in the htdocs folder!

Yes! In my Computer > Local Disk C: > xampp > htdocs inside htdocs I created a folder called joomla and put the full package of joomla 1.5 inside. checking my localhost/joomla for auto run but it did not work. Only to show me that it did not see the object.

Pls give me a break down let me repeat the process again

Running a wamp server on your computer is not a problem, but xammp have a lot of issues, If you want to run wamp in your computer hit me up.

I know it sounds like a stupid question:
Did you, actually, start the xampp thing BEFORE trying to access the joomla install?

Find that orange coloured icon on your desktop (XAMPP Control Panel) - click > and click Start Apache and Start MySQL.
    Did you follow these steps?
