Using Old php files in Wordpress

I have a very old website with hundreds of articles saved as php files that we're converting to wordpress.

As a test, I created a folder and uploaded a php file.

I created a page in wordpress with a link to that php file.

The php file came up just fine but not within the wordpress template.

I'm looking for a way for the php file to display on a webpage like every other webpage on my site.

Any help?

If you can provide a sample of the source found within one of these PHP files I may be able to recommend a method to import them.

Simple opening them will not work since Wordpress will need to have the contents imported as a Post or Page and stored within its database with a valid title and ID.

Agree^^^ Why not just copy/paste the contents in to WP via the editor when viewing the old PHP files? I understand there are hundreds, but what you are after may not be possible.
