The forms you see on websites lead to autoresponder signups for site owners who are building their list. The autoresponders most often used are Aweber and GetResponse.

If you are putting your own email on a site - I'd put it on a "contact" page and definitely use a free email account that you can abandon if it gets clogged with spam.

Elizabeth, you don't need an autoresponder for the contact us form.

What you need is a bit of HTML code to display the fields you want -- typically user name, email and his comment -- and a bit of scripting code that will email you the contents of those fields.

I would direct you to one of those, but I don't know the technical details of your hosting provider. Does it support PHP, Perl, or none?

However, I'd like to point you to two resources that will hopefully provide more information.

First is a thread from digitalpoint -- How to make a contact form?

And second one will give you both the HTML code you need to insert on your contact us page, as well as the small PHP code -- assuming your website knows to use it -- that will email the results.

    Super Simple Contact Form

    Hope this helps.

If you could provide us some more information about your site, we may be able to give you better ideas. For example, if it is a wordpress based website, there are plugins that will accomplish exactly what you want very easily. Let us know.

        Elizabeth,

If it's WordPress you're using, you can simply use a WordPress plugin to put in a contact form:

        Hope this helps

There are several ready to use contact forms available for free. You can just google for free contact forms. I've been using a free script from Douglas Davis. Just google for "Mr. D's Free PHP Contact Us Script". This script also includes a security image that you can use if you have a problem with spam.
