My bounce rate is 85%

I don't know why my bounce rate is so high???
Is there something I can do to make the site more compelling?

the link is in my sig....
are the buttons unclear? Is the site ugly? Does it look too wordpressy?
I know I am new, but in the future I promise to pay it forward....

    I am currently on an iPad, but I will give you my opinions based on what I see. First the Header image looks a bit blurry, it could use sharper edges. Second, the navigation is not well defined on the iPad. There are random words across the top, but your average user may not realize its your nav. Third, it is very black and white. Most gardening sites have some color to them. Think of your audience. Gardeners like color! Also the font seems large on the iPad.

    I would also consider making a sticky post with a video. Users are attracted to video and if they watch the video this will help reduce your bounce rate.

    I don't know why your bounce rate is so high...it looks like a decent site. Try making the navigation on top better or add some color. It just looks like copy text...not main navigation links.

    You have a high bounce rate because there is no reason to click through to another page - you're showing the entirety of each post on the homepage.

    If you switch to just showing the post title, except and a Read More link your bounce rate will drop a great deal.

    It'll probably work better for SEO too, because it'll cut down on the amount content you're duplicating across your site.

    thanks everyone!
    -sharpened the logo (i think there was a glitch in the initial upload)
    -added a grey block around the menu bar and made the text bold
    -changed from full post to excerpt (glitch- the formatting from the full post does not show up at all... Another day another fight)

    One of the major reasons why your bounce rate is so high is that your website does not look attractive. Another reason could be lack of relevant data that is not of much use to the viewers. Both these factors can lead to increase in bounce rates which can be very harmful for your website and would defeat the main reason for maintaining a website.

    You can decrease the Bounce rate from following points.

    - Your site must have attractive Design.
    - Your home page must have cleared and interesting content.
    - Your home page content must have the inner link for some other pages.

    It's gardening, add some color and some nice photos, liven the place up a little. Oh and that header is huuuge, for some reason I associate big headers with crap sites, the header is the least important thing on a good site.

    you website needs to be more user friendly.Its better if you change your font size litlle smaller,you can make your background colourful and third you can put some images in to your blog because its looking very simple .

    You should concentrate on the quality of your articles. Write such articles which are easily readable and understandable. Work for making all the articles error free and optimize for such keywords which are closely related to your content. I think your bounce rate will decrease.
