If you could give a bit more detail then people might be able to help with your first post, e.g. the name of the theme you bought? It could be familiar to lots of people here.

Not all themes operate the same way.

Also a link to your site if you can then people can go and firebug to try and assist.

Also, have you tried getting firebug yourself on either Chrome or Firefox, it helps a great deal with this kind of thing.

No. You have unrealistic expectations. Get real: if you want to modify a design - learn design (=html, css etc.)

Use FIREBUG add-on/extension for your browser to inspect each element of your theme. Then you can see the dimension of each element using this tool.

If you want customize your wordpress header, usually every theme have been provide size of header that you can to customize. Here, you just create a banner using some image applications. I use Photoshop to create the banner for header. To avoid loading speed for your blog, its recommended use the smalest size. Usually under 200 KB.

Did you made a child theme for it? Remember if you design in photoshop you must save for web! Keep images small. I agree firebug is a good way to start finding elements in your website. I can help costimize it for you, if you want the help..
