How Do I Move a Website from Apple's IWEB for Mac to Wordpress?

I have a prospective offline client who built a website and hosts it on iweb. Most of the website is currently not working. Apparently, Apple is dropping support for iweb, so he wants to move to a new platform. I know very little about web design. He is looking at website tonight and sandbox, but, it seems that most people recommend Wordpress. Is it easy for a web designer to move the content from iweb to another platform such as wordpress? Is this a relatively simple cut and paste job, or do you need to build the new website from scratch? Thanks for your thoughts.

    Hi Sammymar,

I would definitely stay away from Website Tonight! It's a template based site builder and does not have cpanel.

Wordpress is the way to go IMHO. I have had much success ranking wordpress sites on the first page of Google for their search terms, even in Manhattan (which is the most competitive area in the US) in record time!

I have a free site with video training showing how I create these sites. You can access it by going to: http://5daymarketingchallengesite.com

As far as moving from iweb over to wordpress I'm sorry I haven't tried that yet.

I use wptwin by Jason Fladlien to clone wordpress sites and move them around with just a few clicks of the mouse. I use it constantly but it is not a free tool.

You can move wordpress sites with backup buddy (plugin) too which is free but it requires a bit more legwork than wptwin.

    Hope this is helpful.

    All the best.

And does the client know about this...? Or did you sell yourself as an expert and now you came here to desperately seek advice because you have no clue?

      Sally,

Thanks again for your response. I haven't heard anyone with positive feedback for website tonight or iweb, but I thought I'd throw it in my post to see if I received any other reviews.

Does anyone else have iweb experience? I already told my prospective client that I wasn't aware of many professionals that use iweb (as opposed to Wordpress), but I told him I would check around--hence the reason for this post.
