You can use any kind of HTML editor like front page, dreamweaver, NVU, PSPad Editor, etc. -- to create pages of your own. You can use wordpress to create you blog, just put some time in adding plugins and it will be powerful. If you really want the easiest then I have one, I use Quick Minisite Builder with three steps website making process --> edit one file for the configuration of website information and Affiliate IDs, copy and paste all your article text files in a folder "articles" then I just upload everything and it will create a fully blown profitable search engine friendly website. I used this before just for my personal use. Ross | |

Don't let anyone fool you into believing Joomla is easy - or Drupal. They ain't. Tried them both. Did some pretty decent Joomla sites, and am regretting that I've ever made them.
The 2 main pains: security issues and upgrading. Despite following the security instructions to the T, my sites got hacked. And hacked again. And once again... Next major pain: trying to explain to your client in a simple way how the over-complicated content management section works if they want to add a new post and have it in some section/category or whatever. Pretty large pain if you want to use extensions: hardly any of them will fit your template unless you know how to tweak the CSS manually (I found that the 3rd party programmers don't seem to follow a programming standard to create clean code). But with all that said, they do have a HUGE and very friendly, helpfull community... My vote is for WordPress and WordPress only. |

I guess that depends on your skill level. Wordpress, dreamweaver, frontpage to name a few. But there are so many more to choose from. Just pick one you feel most comfortable with and read up on html.

I think the easiest is (if your using cpanel as a control panel) fantastico. You can install build and create your site within seconds using their 1 click button installs.

I have 10 years in web design and I've used a lot of different approaches. I've coded html & css from scratch, worked from templates, used Joomla, used site builders, used all different kinds of scripts, and used Wordpress.
Without doubt, Wordpress is the champion for almost every single thing you could want to do. Even if you have no experience, you can go to almost any host and find an automatic installer to get yourself going. You can make Wordpress do almost anything that any other method can provide. It is extremely flexible, and you can find themes & plugins for almost any purpose. The big plus of Wordpress, is that Google loves it. An html site or something created with a sitebuilder might sit there for ages and not get indexed. My experience with Wordpress, on the other hand, is that its content gets indexed faster than any other approach. I use Wordpress for everything I do now. If I need something that Wordpress doesn't natively do, I always find it very easy to adapt it to my needs. If you are going to learn something, Wordpress will give you the most long term value for the time you invest. |

I see Wordpress is the number ONE, because it is Google’s friend. You will invest for a long time. On the other hand, you can get indexed volumes of traffic from WP.

I use Dreamweaver, Joomla, Wordpress, Blogger and Notepad to build my sites, but it really depends on the type of site needed. I favor self-hosted Wordpress. It's easy to setup, plugin a nice template, add some content and you are ready to go.
Blogger is similar, while Joomla takes some bit of getting use to, but there are some really cool add-ons to really jazz-up your site. Somewhere down the road you will need to have a working knowledge of HTML, PHP and the likes if you want to get creative. |

I use Site Builder 4.1 for my site, though I also like image cafe. By the way, someday when I get the money, I am thinking about getting Microsoft Expressions (which is the successor to Front Page), and am wonder what you think of Microsoft Expressions?

I'll add my opinion as a long time web developer...
** If you want insanely easy to use with a fair number of options, go Wordpress. Great for rolling content (blog style) and flat page display. It has plugins that allow some great community-style features and there are a jillion themes available. But it did start its life as a blogging platform and that's still readily apparent out of the box. It'll take some tweaking initially to get away from that style towards a more traditional website look & feel. ** If you want to have full control and power over what your site becomes without learning to be a web developer, a modular CMS like Drupal [drupal.org] or Joomla [joomla.org] is a good choice. They're both free and can be extended until the cows come home; however, there's a much larger learning curve than with Wordpress. I have a bias towards Drupal because I've done custom ecommerce-related development for it recently. About 6 years ago, when Joomla was first starting out, I was tasked with custom development on that platform and found the code to be quite a mess. I would hope that it's significantly better at this point, but I don't really know... |

I would tend towards Wordpress for a lot of my work, but it depends on what you want to do!
CMS Made Simple - www.cmsmadesimple.org is another cms which I use regularly for client work. It is easy to set up and has a really intuitive backend. It also has lots of modules(plugins) but is a bit weaker on the theme availability. However, there are plenty of reasonably priced good designers on the forums to help with theme design. The cmsms forums are also very friendly! I have used, but do not tend to use Joomla and Drupal, because they are more for heavy lifting and require more effort to setup and theme. Though both have lots of plugins and themes I think they're better for large websites/portals and not really for the beginner. You might also like Sky Blue Canvas - http://skybluecanvas.com - it requires no database - just php, is easy to setup, has good tutorials, and some nice free themes. It would be good for small websites! The developer pitches it at under 100 pages with 1 to 3 editors. I like it, as it has most plugins you would need, including images, ads and forms. |

I think Instant Site Machine. You can get instant automatic content or write your own content or upload your own content. Requires only PHP on shared hosting. No MySQL, no installation. Just upload and run it.
Less than 2 megabytes total and you only edit a single file for the template. You can get a site up in less than 5 minutes with adsense and clickbank working. |
|
Instant Site Machine - make hundreds of sites in minutes each
Create Niche Site in 2 Mins - Create massive content site using PLR articles in minutes |

I have tried several different software programs, like FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc., but the easiest to understand is definitely XSitePro 2. It is made specifically for internet marketing and they have a great forum for answers to all of your questions.
That being said, if your Cpanel has Fantastico it is easy to install WordPress on any site and with the wide variety of themes available you can customize it to almost any niche market. I personally use XSitePro 2 to design the site and then use WordPress to work along with the site as updated content. |

Seems like most everyone agrees that Wordpress is one of the easiest ways to get a new website, and I agree.
However, there's one solution - especially for someone new to all this - that I don't think anyone mentioned. And thats Weebly It's worth checking out. Find it here, and register for an account. Weebly - Create a free website and a free blog Hope you've found what you wanted. Have a Gooder! |

Most ppl have different likes and dislikes about site builders. I tend to use Frontpage simply because I have always used it. That does not mean to say it is the best, I know it's not.
I would have to say that ppl's preferences are different and what pleases one person, will not necessarily please another. |

I use iWeb but that because I got a mac and love it! But I heard of weebly.com from Russell Brunson and it seems to be pretty easy to use and free! I have played with wordpress a little but still need to master it a little better. Feels a little too restrictive at times for me.

Hi all,
In my experience, the two best systems to use are either Wordpress, and / or Site Build It. The idea with wordpress is that you have many themes to choose from, and it is quite difficult to 'break" the site. All you need to have is a hosting account that has a CPanel, as well as the ability to use Fantastico to auto create your wordpress blog. Once you have this, you can then organise the elements of it, like the theme, the content, and plugins. For a more detailed site structure, (if you like to build from scratch), Site built it is awsome, as it is designed to be workabl eby an absolute newbie. They provide great support documents as well. An example of a Site Build It Site is Positive-Relaxation.com They allow you to build as many pages as you want, and they help you with keyword selection, and more. |

Hey, thanks for that, Loren...
I was beginning to think I was the only person on the planet to find XSitePro a snap, compared with Word Press. I've used XSitePro for five years now and have occasionally felt I should have a blog. So I've set up a basic blog with WP, only to get bogged down when trying to do pretty much anything - like put in a custom header. I guess I'm spoilt by the ease with which XSitePro does it all - including the no-brainer, built-in FTP function. As I see it, the biggest attraction of a blog is the RSS feed, which I've added to my XSitePro web sites anyway. So now I've got the best of both worlds. Warmest regards, Paul |

I like XSitePro a lot. Extremely easy to build niche sites, make global changes, publish, etc. No html experience needed, though very basic understanding can come in handy when dealing with some of the quirkiness in the WYSIWYG Design feature.
I will also be using Wordpress for blogging and maybe for building a site at some point to gauge the differences between XSP and WP. |

I personally use XSitePro2 which is built for internet marketing sites. Wordpress is also easy to work with if you have Fantastico through your hosting account, I use Hostgator and use WordPress in harmony with the site I design through XSitePro.
Remember to create a link on your site to the blog and from the blog back to the site so navigation is easy for the visitor. I also use Photoshop to customize the banner (after selecting a theme) on the Wordpress installation so the site will have the same look throughout. |

I use both WordPress and XSitePro. Having said that both of these are great for their particular purpose.
WordPress is great for blogging. Google loves the kind of content that blogs such as WordPress produces as it sees it as more authentic. It's also very easy to setup and more importantly manage. Beautiful websites are one thing but being able to manage them and upgrade them with ease is another. There are also lots of amazing WordPress themes -- I love the Thesis theme btw! Another great feature of WordPress is the amazing number of plugins and widgets you can download. They let you add all kinds of features to your blog such as Twitter feeds and Amazon marketplaces. The possibilities are truly endless. XSitePro is the kind of website that I would use for a traditional sales copy page or a "squeeze" page. It's very easy to use and manage. It also has some great SEO features. The only thing I don't like about XSitePros is that you can't use Dreamweaver web templates; you'll have to hire someone to convert them or do it yourself. Both are great website packages. Good luck to you! |
