Editing header & footer in a forum

Hello,

I have a website that's already completed. (I paid someone else to do it.) Now, to save money, I am trying to do the message forum part myself. I would like to edit the header and footer to match the rest of my site. It doesn't matter which forum platform I go with (phpBB3, vBulletin, etc) ... whatever works best.

If you have any ideas on where I should start please let me know. I have searched this topic 10 times over but the tutorials are generally over my head.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance.

    I would go with phpBB its a very good board and FREE.
    They have a very good support forum if you need help.
