Blog or Regular Site?

Hi,

I realize there must be a thread about this on here somewhere, but I'm not having any luck finding it when I do a search.

I would like to set up a niche site with multiple pages to sell about 15 ebooks, house articles and a newsletter.

Does it make a difference whether I use a blog or a regular html site? Do the search engines have a preference?

Websites are great for storefronts, but the ongoing changes of the content in blogs, preferably WP blogs with quality content will quickly help your blog rise to the top of Google search.

I'm agree with you. Wordpress is the one stop solution for your requirements. In fact word press has very good functionalities.

Search engines couldnt care less about how you make the site, its whats served up to them that matters.
Wordpress makes serving something half decent easy enough (it also makes serving useless ugly crap pretty easy as well) so its a good option.

WP is great with so many choices, but you will probably get into a buying spree with plugins, great themes etc. I started out with Xsitepro site creator, onetime fee of $197 and it does everything.(I also heard Hostgator has builtin site creator) I decided to do a WP blog and started to buy themes and then plugins, well I have probably spent well over $1000, cuz there are always these new cool addons so just beware that you will be tempted beyond belief with all the WP addon options, it's addicting! and pre-decide how much you need or you will be convinced you need that next great plugin and then that other next even better great SW and the training course to go with it..etc.. get the basics and make sure you learn to hackproof and backup your blogs. I have heard that google favors google sites, so add to sites like youtube, blogger, picasa, g+1, google authorship etc..do what google likes and you will be highly favored.

Thank you all for your feedback!

I have decided to go with a WP blog and found a fellow Warrior that will create a theme with graphics for $50. I'm excited about that! A handfull of plugins that I already have and it'll be good to go...

    Thanks again!

Go with Wordpress and use a ecommerce plugin for selling. It's the easiest content management system for non-technical users (which it sounds like you are) and it's free.

You can do so much with Wordpress thanks to all the plugins and themes that are available. If you're trying to sell downloads take a look at Jigoshop, WooCommerce and Wordpress eStore from Tips & Tricks HQ.

Blogs are the best one, and if that blog is based or developed on wordpress then it will be easy for you to search more and more with rapid or quick results.

Search engine prefers website and those websites are more preferred which have their own blog. So to make a website is more beneficial than a blog on a different site.

From my experiene blogs rank higher based on content. for article marketing for example , the rank goes up faster if the content is of high quality covering interests that are ranking high on google search : ex: acneea treatment... I must admit it was smart to use blog networks not to mention free. I think is basic knowledge but blog platforms tend to promote their own...
