This is going to most likely be my fault but basically what happened is I made all my pretty link links domain.com/out/linkname and I put /out/ in my robots.txt to be disallowed by google robots but for some reason google has indexed all my pretty links now and most likely caused me to basically drop off the search engine completely... How can I fix this? any ideas?

Most probably, your rankings have dropped due to Google Penguin algorithm update. You should make all 'Pretty Links' no-follow. The plug-in has this feature built into it.

All my pretty links are nofollow and noindex yet, google still indexed them. My pretty link re-direct pages actually rank higher than my site right now... Pretty choked to say the least. No idea what to do.

Thanks for your reply though. Hopefully it is just temporary.

  • I hope you have herd of Google dancing and the Penguin and Panda updates. If you are pretty sure the indexing caused this, adjust the robot.txt file or wait some time and consider how to optimize the site with penguin update.

I'm not positive it did but I can't figure out what else would of. Site is still new, I ranked 1st page pretty quick so maybe after 3 weeks google figured I wasn't worthy anymore?

How would I adjust robots.txt for that. I tried blocking my /out/ folder where all my pretty links are suppose to be but when I went to my site files an /out/ folder didn't even exist; yet I call all my affiliate links that I cloak, domain.com/out/link. So, I'm confused to where these pretty link html pages even are :s.

I say google dancing for now, if the jumping around is recent, but if you've been off the SERPs for a while, I would look into re-optimizing the site

Kk, thanks for the response everyone. I will just wait it out and see what happens for now. Still curious to where my pretty links are actually located in my files though :s
