Hello. I use to have a website about a year ago and now the domain expired and the website does not exist. However, I still have the files showing in my cPanel under file manager.

Can I somehow extract the files/content of my previous website from my cPanel and reload it to a new website/domain?

Sorry if this is such a newb questions.

Thank you.

Yeah all you have to do is transfer the files either using FTP or File Manager to the directory of the new domain on your hosting account. You might have to do quite a bit of editing especially if it's a database driven site like Wordpress.

If what you mean is download the files of your website to your computer then all you have to do is create a home directory backup on cPanel or just download the public_html or whatever folder your web host uses using FTP.

If you still have the same hosting for the new website this would be EXTREMELY easy. Just go into your filemanager and select all the files in your website and 'copy' or 'move' them to the new directory (website). If it is database driven (ie: wordpress, joomla, etc) you wont have any problems because you are still on the same server! Just need to go in and change any absolute links to your new domain name.

Again, if your still on the same server this is an easy process. If need be im sure your host would take care of it for you in a couple mins.

It sounds like everything is still there. All that happened is your domain expired. But your web host account is still there with all the files.

You can either use an ftp program such as FileZilla to download the files, or use cPanel. With cPanel there are several things you can do, such as backup the files to your computer, copy them to a new location within your hosting account, or setup a new domain where the files are already located which is essentially just like your old site.

If you still have access to your Cpanel's file manager, yes you can secure a copy of your site. You can compress your folders, download and extract them somewhere else (new site or in your computer).

Let me know if I can help you Warrior to Warrior.

    Good luck
