When you are looking to buy websites, see if you want an established site (expensive) or a new site (cheap) and work on it. Don't get fooled by fake claims and screenshots. Page rank is also faked easily.

Bonuses with this is that I get a ready made email list of 20,000 users into article marketing and SEO

For the price I got them for I don't think anybody else looking at the sites thought about the potential of buying a ready made niche list of subscribers.

Look at what a site can do for you.

Have you made any sites yourself? Building one with WordPress is easy and will teach you things that will make you a wiser buyer of sites built by others.

Does the url have profitable keywords in it? And do search results for those keywords show the website? Other than that, who cares. If you can get the clients, meaning if you get traffic, all else is easy.

    Hi,

All those recommendations were great. But 1 important thing is to *cover your butt* at all times. Use an escrow service when doing the transfer and DO YOUR RESEARCH. There is A LOT of fraud out there. Just do your homework.

One other thing, invest in what you know.

    Good luck

I agree with you 100%, these are the kind of guide lines I was expecting. Because, in todays world, you cant trust anyone period, especially on the net.

Depends on what you want to use it for, really. If you are going to try to funnel traffic to another website, then you should look for:
    1. Traffic (make sure it's documented).
    2. Search volume.
    3. PR
    4. Backlinks (make sure they're quality and not bought).
    5. Be sure to check SiteAdvisor so you know it's safe as is.
    6. Proof of income (You generally will pay 12 months worth of income).

IF you are going to mold it into a site that you will publish onto (if it is a blog, for example), look for all of the above factors and, in addition:
    1. Proof of a community.
    2. Make sure the quality of pre-existing content is to par of what you can create.

In general, just DO YOUR RESEARCH.
