I saw a service that allows you to connect to a computer that has 1gb per second connection. Its a bussiness fast internet connection, and they claim that if your internet is slow you just connect to their computer and your connection will be super fast because you are not downloading anything on your computer when you browse internet the only connecting you got is to their computer. So you have a stable connection and even if you downloading something its not going on your computer but on theirs. So their server can have 1000 connections at once, but all you got is just one from your IP to theirs. This method has very good reviews.

It does still suck up a lot of bandwidth but its stable bandwidth it will not go up or down.

So I was thinking to do that for SmartPhones. Cell phones data plans limit you to 2gb data usage.

If you make an APP that saves you Bandwidth usage I am sure it will popular and in demand. Any thoughts?

You still need to serve from the server to the end user, down the slow connection between the two. Sure they might have some kinda of compression, but its not going to make a great deal of difference.

Plus most bandwidth heavy uses like video etc wont compress much if served from an efficient host in the 1st place.

I suppose the server could handle and heavy 'front end' processing, such as js etc, but i cant see it making much difference.

So in the end, no, your connection is as fast as the slowest part.
