WEB DESIGN

Hi I'm new to using making websites and customizing css so I make quite a few mistakes. So I was wondering if anyone could have a look at my website and tell me how to improve it, or what I've done.

UPDATE: Stop passing on other's work as your own. You have used a theme from WooThemes. What did you design yourself?

I would say you have done a fairly good job. Clean and simple. You will have to fix a stray symbol in the footer and the ad in the header. Try to add some images in the header.

  I just had a look at the custom work you offer and honestly I'm positive I can do better than that, your work is simplistic and lazy, I can make a site like that in less than hour but why would I want to, hence why I'm using a theme from woothemes.
  
  I'd like to tell xtrapunch to go **** himself, as content is far more important than the design of the website.

I think it's funny having a photo of a homeless man and also a photo of dumpster diving as illustrations of vacationing on the cheap. This is probably cheaper than most people are thinking of doing.

On the design, I like your logo and also like the block story design. I clicked on the "How to Find Cheap Flights" title and it didn't go to another article. But I think it's a great start.

betsyanne: I've been playing around with the .js files for my slider to try and get it to fade instead of slide, I managed to get it to fade but then it wouldn't let you click on the links, so i've had to switch it back to slide.

Also I'm now playing with thematics to try and create a more custom theme and more me theme.

I dont think the color combination of the site is good for travel web site. Also the Google ads are visible as the ads.

It looks pretty okay. Try adding more colour. Also, meta tags aren't how they should be. I don't see any "keyword meta" or "description meta", they're VERY important.

  i think that your website is very plain, add more colour to get attention from the visitors.and i dont like the double Gadsense on the sidebar. it should be one on the first and last widget. CMIIW

Great website. I like the design and you really have a lot of content in there. The only thing that you might want to add if I had to be really picky is a privacy policy page especially since you have Google Adsense ads running. Good job!

Hi Jeracoo, I just visited your website. You have really worked a lot, and all the things seem to be perfect except for one thing, i,e the slider function to at the top, where the images and their information slide side by side. Only the thing which is required there is to include more traveling tips and photos. Right now just 3 images are rolling over. Rest all is fine.

Hey Jeracoo:

I like the smooth look of the site. It is easy to navigate and easy on the eyes.

Now, look at it from a visitor's perspective. What would you want to see on a travel/vacation site? What styling, what content?

Just my 2 cents, throw in some blues, some yellows, some palm trees. Make it feel a little more vivid. Who is your target visitor? Why would he or she stick on your page?

How about some specific destinations/pix/images of beaches, etc.

Again, the navigation of the site is easy enough, and the sliding images at the top seems to be timed appropriately and it looks to be working right.

Give it a more "vacationey" feel, and keep adding in your content.

Pretty funny and well organized.

I'm not sure about monetization. You placed 3 adsense ads on the homepage (3 is the max, but for better CPC, 1 or 2 is better) but you did not place them in high-CTR positions. I recommend you google about the topic ("where to place adsense ads for high click through rates" or similar strings)

Overall the site looks great to me. It seems very balanced and the layout is nice.
I do think that you should add another color or two to the site especially towards the bottom.
Also I do think that even if you're not going to add anything to the side menu and I'm not sure if you are planning to or not, I would extend it to the bottom of the page just so the design looks more flowing.

  Just noticed the homepage's title having "12345" in it. Also, it mentions "Cheap Flights" which I think doesn't match the website unless you plan on selling airfares sometime soon.
  
  I am not too sure if the Alexa Rank widget on the sidebar is something necessary and don't think that visitor's would really want to know about. Maybe put it on an advertise page if it's for advertisers.
  
  It's really great to see that the site get's update frequently and has a lot of fresh content. These are just my opinions and I hope it helped.
