Sitemap and ping on membership site

Hi guys,
I am in the middle of building my first membership site and wonder if someone can help me out with a couple of questions I have.
The site is based on WP and I normally add a sitemap generator plugin, add a handful of ping sites as well as add the site to Google webmaster tools. Now with these tools added every post I make will be in the sitemap and will be pinged regardless if the page/post is password protected in the member only area or not. Since a login is needed for the membership area these posts and pages will all show up as a login request page or even a page not found error haven't quite got my head around this one yet.
Is there an easy way around it other than manually excluding every membership area page/post or wouldn't it even matter too much in regards to Google? Don't really want to get rid of the sitemap all together.
Thanks for your help guys!

Make a new category called 'members' and make a robots.txt that states to noindex for '/members/*'

Thank for this but only a partial solution. It will not take care of any pages which I will create on a weekly basis nor will it help with posts which are only partially visible to the public.
I just wonder how other membership sites tackle this scenario.

Maybe contact the author of the sitemap plugin you use?
