i am wanting to research a few websites, as i want to build a similar one, the ones i am looking at are kickstarter, gogetfunding, pozible, startsomegood, peerbackers; new jelly

what i am wanting to know is do they use some sort of script or have they been built from ground up?

    Those are custom sites.

    Look for paid open-source or paid themes/scripts for crowdsourcing. There are a few out there. You will need a bit of skill to customize though. This level of functionality is not beginner stuff.
