I Need Some Desktop Icons Designed

Hi,
This is a new one for me. I have a lot of design experience but this
isn't something I'd do - and because it's new to me I'm not sure
who to turn to.

I have a client who has asked me to create a whole bunch of desktop
icons. You know the kind of thing, if you were creating software you'd
have an icon created for the save command, another one for the
print command and then a whole bunch for different categories.
I guess the Joomla CMS interface is a good example. They are small
but colourful and stylish looking. And act as buttons for whatever
they represent.

The thing is if I do them it will take me ages because this simply isn't
my thing - but I don't want to go to Elance or that kind of thing because
I simply haven't had any luck with suppliers there - and I don't have
the time to do the full due process to get someone.

Does anyone here know anyone, or have experience doing this kind of
thing? Or can you point me in the direction of a good resource?

I guess I was thinking that maybe if I could get a good library of source
files then I probably could do this myself - but I'd be happy to find
someone else to do it for me.

Any ideas or suggestions anyone?

What are you having problem with designing them or just getting them to open a certain program?

It's not favicons I'm talking about, though.
It's icons; which are generally larger and more expressive of an idea.

do a search for PLR icons.... use them as basis for your own designs and simply alter them.

Phil,

You mention libraries of icons, and then talk about original, unique icons.

Understand you're looking for desktop icons for a software app - there are some good free libraries of professional icons, but it depends whether you're just looking to go with stock icons, customise or generally create your own.

Let me know - I should have a few links and icon libraries I can send over.
