Can I better the SEO of my tech blog?

I have installed all essential plug-ins, and chose a decent theme for my latest tech-blog Techjailbreak | Bringing the latest breaking tech news and smartphone reviews!.

What other improvements can I make to make the content more visible and separate my blog from the crowd?

Also, should I continue with the "featured articles" idea on the front page, as I heard that Google ranks the website that prefer content over images & flash, better?

Your advise will be valuable for me.

    Hi gauravthegeek,

    SEO is not a bad idea for promoting your blog. If you have done other things like installing plug-ins, I would recommend you to do SEO of your website, or get it done from some specialist.

    It will help promote your blog and bring traffic to it.

      You have lots of content, and I think a little work could really help to showcase it.

      When I first went to your site, my eyes didn't know where to go. There were tons of headlines, and everything has a white background.

      Some suggestions:
      • Give the navbar a different background color.
      • Give the boxes for featured articles at the top of the page a different background color but not black -- make it something that contrasts nicely with the page and is easy on the eyes.
      • Give either the "All Stories" section in the main column or the box at the right a different background color.
      IOW, have less white, and use color to make the featured articles stand out. Muted shades for the background can give you that "ahh" feeling and can help readers find content on the page more easily.


      And yes, I think the featured articles section on the home page is a good idea. It helps them get more traffic, it gives the bots fresh food, and it gives readers a reason to check your home page regularly. Remember to update it often.

    First off I just want to say that I love the theme of the website. The only thing I really don't like about it is your sidebar. The social widget you have on top is pretty dang ugly (sorry lol). I recommend replacing that with an Adsense block since that's very valuable ad space and use a plug called "Share Bar" for you social links. I also would recommend using a plugin called "Special Recent Posts" for your... recent posts.

    Now about SEO. The best and only SEO plugin that I use for Wordpress is called "All in One SEO Pack" that let's you realyl customize everything SEO related about your website and even choose how your website appears in Google results.

    The question that really needs to be answered is: why should I go to your site? What are you doing for me? Work on that, and you'll figure out how to get people to your place.
    As for the design, it's clean but also run of the mill. Consider making it a bit more popping.
