Email Capture on a wordpress blog

I just found this forum yesterday and it looks great, I quickly searched but didn't see anything about this. I apologize if this has been covered before.

I need some way to capture the emails of people who read my blog. On blogger or wordpress dot com you can add a little widget on the side. However my standalone wordpress site, doesn't seem to have that option. How could you go about creating a lead capture page or some sort of button, etc to capture emails?

Thanks for the help.

    Hi,

If you are using an autoresponder service such as Aweber, GetResponse, etc., you can add their form code to a text widget placed in your Wordpress sidebar.

There are WP plugins that allow you to capture subscriber info directly into the Wordpress database as well. These create and maintain lists where you can send broadcast announcements. I recommend using an SMTP service or Amazon SES if you go this route however.
