Online Store With 50,000+ items

I am looking for an ecommerce platform that can handle at least 50,000 items. The customer is currently using Magento and with 35,000+ items in it makes it run very slow.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

    That's a lotta products. Are they using the hosted, or self-hosted version of Magento? The hosting environment has a lot to do with how fast the site loads; and many shared servers just can't handle that much volume.

    So if they are hosting it themselves, consider a dedicated server; or consider the hosted version.

    With that many products, could be they need something like Miva Merchant.

    Are you looking for another platform as far as shopping cart or hosting?

    If hosting, look into a higher end VPS. Before everyone shouts out dedicated, in a lot of cases a VPS may actually be more powerful.
