Which Sidebar Should I Remove? Left or Right?

I've decided to remove one of the sidebars on my site.

I plan on removing the widgets and crap that are increasing my bounce rate, so I should be fine with just one sidebar.

I've looked online for info on which one is best to keep, and I've been unable to find anything on the effect having it on either side makes on bounce rate and conversions.

So, I'll ask you for your opinion on which side you think would be best to remove, or if it matters?

Thanks in advance for your opinion and time.

I'd remove the left sidebar and keep the right.

People generally read from left to right, so by removing the left sidebar you keep the focus on your content. If your content is interesting you'll keep visitors on your site longer, and if at the bottom of your content you have links to additional (related) content on your site you have a decent chance of preventing a bounce.

Keep in mind that if your content is designed to create clicks to an affiliate offer you're going to have a high bounce rate anyway.

Yea, I thought about that. I have one google adsense ad embedded in the text of the blog posts, and down the line, I will have an affiliate link for my own product's sales page.

Does that sound like too much?

Thanks for the feedback on the sidebars.

No, sounds fine. Remember that content is key. If you have fluff content with adsense blocks and affiliate links you'll get a lot of bounces but not the kind you want!
