got an alert from Google Safe Browsing

I have 2 or three sites that generate an alert from Google Safe Browsing when browse them with Google Chrome. This alert is of the type that says this website is suspicious, and do you really want to proceed.

I've checked these sites with various online malware scanners, and they always come up clean, except they report that the sites are on Googles safe browsing blacklist. So, while I can't figure out what's causing the blacklisting, since all the services look at each other's blacklists I feel that the impact of my blacklisting is reaching farther and farther. Sometimes I get these warnings in Firefox and now I am getting scary security warnings when I try to access from within my corporate network.

What can I do? Specifically, Google says to communicate with them via Google webmaster for any questions of this nature. However these sites have high PR and are part of my aspiring wanna-be tiny private network that I want to keep discreet, which is why I haven't before signed them up with Google webmaster. Since i can't figure out what's causing (or previously caused) the problem, whom do I need to get in touch with, and how, to start getting this fixed?

Have you tried doing a site scan with Sucuri? it is usually pretty good at catching malware if that is the issue.

May be your IP address has been blacklisted in Google safe browsing. Try to browse the website using some different IP.

I can comment better if you can share the website url.

Do you have any encoded html or javascript there. Or maybe some iframe?

@ Gerry Hupmphrey Yes, I have discovered Sucuri. cool service. it tells me it hasn't found anything on my site, but it has found my site on the google blacklist.

@bulldog I don't have any iframes going on, or encoded html.I'm not sure about the javascript.

@maneetpuri do you mean this might be caused by the IP I am browsing *from*?

I am using CloudFlare. I wonder if it's possible I've found myself in a bad neighborhood.

    this is interesting.
on the google safe browsing diagnostic page for one of my sites

    hxxp://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http%3A%2F%2Frafanoronha.net%2F

it says that malicious software was hosted on 213.5.176.0/

however, the safe diagnostic page for that site

    hxxp://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=213.5.176.0/

says that site is not currently listed as suspicious. that is unfair!

Have you asked for a review in Google Webmaster Tools?

I haven't far for the reason mentioned in the original post, but I am going to have to. I have been hoping that with enough time the alert would go away, but it hasn't so far.

Ironically, I'm also having trouble getting into my cpanel for this account. I've got tickets opened with both CloudFlare (noticed you were an evangelist) and with the host support to get it figured out.

Google is the only one that can fix the issue with that, unfortunately.

      CloudFlare/cPanel:
One of these options should work (obviously replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain)....

      yourdomain:2082/
      cpanel.yourdomain.com
      direct.yourdomain.com/cpanel
      direct.yourdomain.com:2082
