Robust forum that is easy to integrate with WordPress?

Hey all, I've been in the internet marketing game for a while, but recently my website was obliterated due to a miscommunication thanks to GoDaddy. (There goes 4 years worth of work.)

Anyways, I need a robust yet intuitive forum that I can integrate into WordPress. Doesn't necessarily have to be a WP plug-in, as I can always just link to the forum within the website.

Appreciate the help!

Simpleress and bbPress are wordpress forums. Another great forum software is phpBB, however integrating the two can be a pain if you want the Accounts to mesh. But if you don't need that, then i would say go with phpBB!

    vBulletin is amazing, but expensive.

Thanks MATx. I will check out those options. I know a simple plug in search would yield those results, but it's hard to tell the good from the bad when you've got a hundred results.

      Appreciate it.

That's interesting. I am currently setting up a phpBB forum on a WP site I have it on a Hostgator account and I was looking around at forum options for the website when i remembered that Hostgator probably has a phpBB install available under Fantastaco So I figured what the heck I'd give it a try. So far so good I'm still working on setting it up.

    Thanks for everyone's help.

I've got PHPbb running now, and its very clean. I look forward to using it.

My website is MasterTheCube.com | Learn to solve a Rubik's Cube! by the way, but its starting from scratch, so not a lot to look at right now.

For those of you familiar with PHPbb, how do I change the forum requirement that ever time someone makes a post it has to be approved by a moderator? I want it to automatically go through.

You have to set user groups (Admin, Mod, Member, Guest, etc), group permissions and each separate forum permissions. It is highly configurable and may take some time getting familiar. Here are some links to get you started...

I would suggest to use SMF for forums and WordPress as the portal

If you want it to integrate with WordPress stick with bbPress.org · or even BuddyPress.org

Both from the makers of WordPress.
