Suggestions on Color Schemes that make a product look 'expensive'

I have a product coming up that will eventually be a physical home study course but I'm undecided on the color scheme.

I'm about to outsource the next Covers work to my designer and while he's great at what he does, it's really up to me how I tell him the Covers should be i.e. in this case the Color Scheme.

In your best opinion, what are the color schemes that suggest 'expensive' 'premium' 'exclusive' feel? I've got Gold / Black / White in mind but I think I overused it for some products not long ago.

Something that would make a product feel expensive (at least in my opinion) is a nice red and black gradient color scheme.

If you try to look on dictionary the word elegant it will give the meaning simple, if you want your product looks exclusive feel i suggest make the design simple that way your product will look elegant.

Looks like he's the one who needs the dictionary.

I like to apply subtle use of spot color (usually shades of blues) to a largely grayscale palette. Silver (gray) has been shown to be an effective color to convey quality. That's one of the reasons that most concept cars are silver.

Got any examples I can look up on? For combination of silver with some other colors to give that effect. (Sorry my knowledge on cars is bad, for a guy!)
